Summer Nights in Honduras

Well, I am writing with sleepy eyes today because last night was a
long long night. It was a normal day until we got home to rest. We got
home and started to get ready for bed and then all the sudden the
power went out. Then 30 seconds later it came back on. Then it went
out again. Then came back. Then went out and never came back. So we
sat there in the dark and it was sooooo hot. Without a fan you cant
help but sweat. I tried so many things to try not be so hot. Luckly
the water was still running so I took like a 15 minute shower to try
and cool down. It helped for a bit but not much. Then I took a
mattress onto our front patio to try and sleep there but there wasnt
much of a difference. So I just struggled  with this for about 3 and a
half hours until the lights came back at 2 AM.

But other than last night this week was pretty good. First thing that
comes to mind is that a tree fell on top of a members house in the
middle of a rain storm. So we came and took the tree of his house and
cut it up into little pieces. Im not sure if you can tell by now but I
love using machetes and axes and stuff like that. So I enjoyed myself.

Also on Thursday we had interchanges with the zone leaders so went to
their area for the day. I spent the day with Elder Pineda from the
Dominican Republic. Elder Pineda has just about the same amount of
time as me in the mission. We had a good day together climbing
mountains and stuff to get to investigators houses. That night we
slept in their house so Elder Benitez and I had to sleep on the ground
with small mattresses. When we were going to bed I was like "I dont
need a blanket, I am in Honduras." But of course it rained all night
and got super cold so I was nearly shivering all night.

As far as our investigators go right now we are trying to get some
things done with a few weddings and we are finding a few more
promising investigators. Yesterday we went to ask permission from a
mom to let her 11 year old son be baptized. She has always gone to
many other Protestant churches which teach heavily that churches like
ours are bad. So she wasnt very willing. But she did agree to recieve
the lessons from us so we are going to teach her and her son together.

Anyways, that is all again. Hope you have a great week!

Love,
Elder Gessell
