Welcome to church Joaquin!

It has been a long week. Not because it has been hard or anything. It
just has felt long. Maybe because it is so hot.

This week we have found a bunch of new investigators. It has been
great. So like last week we found that Sister that has recently come
back from Oklahoma after living there for a long time. I think I also
told you that she has been showing us her family and we have been
visitng them. Well this week she showed us even more of her family.
She is awesome. Her name is Jackeline. Anyways on Saturday we met a
few of her family members that are great. We got to their house and we
had a great lesson on the Restoration. They understood and they
participated in the lesson. They told us that they loved how we
explained everything clearly and that they enjoyed the discussion. So
we while we were there we invited them to church which was the next
day(yesterday). They wanted to go but they told us that their Grandpa
Joaquin is old and needs someone to take care of him. Joaquin is 77
years old and can barely hear and cant see. He also wears a little bag
where pees and also spits on the floor every once in a while. When you
yell at him "Hola Joaquin!" He just responds "Hola hombre" or "Hey
man!" in English. What we decided to do was just bring him to church
with us!

So yesterday morning we had to go up to their house and look for a
Moto-Taxi that could bring Joaquin to church with his daughter and his
two grandkids. His daughter's name is Senaida his grandkids which are
Senaida's kids are Johana and Bryan. I was on divisions with a member
while my companion went with another member to bring other
investigators to church. Anyways we basically had to lift Joaquin into
the Moto-Taxi and send him and his family of to church while we walked
back to the church to meet them there. When we got to church we sat
him down with the Elders Quorom(our meetings are reversed) where he
just sat and slept and occasionaly spat on the floor. He sat like that
through the Gospel Principles class too. When it was time for
Sacrament meeting everything seemed to be fine. We moved him into the
chapel we sat in the back with him and the rest of our investigators.
Everything was fine. Ocassionaly he would stand up to "do his
business" but everything was fine. During the sacrament he did let out
a huge yawn and screamed "Tengo sueno!"(Im sleepy). But like I said,
everything went fine. I think the family enjoyed church and Joaquin
enjoyed getting out of the house even if he didn't even notice.

I don't have changes this week. Everything is the same which is what I expected.

Nice to hear that Spencer got home safe and sound! Great job Spence.
Also, good luck to Zack(soon to be Elder Gillingwater) who is going
off to the MTC this week. I am really excited to hear about his
experiences.

I am good. I am getting fed. I am healthy. Im looking forward to this
week. Im enjoying myself.

Love,
Elder Gessell
