Missionaries from Nicaragua
Hello again. Another week in Honduras.
This Tuesday there were transfers. But Elder Benitez and I are staying
here which was expected and Elder Ardon(our district leader) went to
Progreso. In place of Elder Ardon we got a missionary that came from
the Nicaragua Managua South Mission. They have taken all the
missionaries out of Nicaragua for political unrest and sent them to
their own countries but in missions far from their house. So we got
Elder Aguilar from Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras. And since a
lot of missionaries have come from Nicaragua into our mission, a lot
of areas have been opened.
Our area here in San Juan is doing good. We are really trying to work
hard and get some baptisms in this month. We have to get going with
taking out papers so a few of our couples can get married. We also are
working with Joaquins family, the Benitez family. Sadly Joaquin wont
be coming back to church. The Benitez family wasnt able to take care
of him because they have to work. So they sent him to live with the
moms sister in another part of Honduras. But the good thing is that
the Benitez family says that they are going to go to church this
coming Sunday. They are great.
This week we spent a lot of time visiting with inactive members and
some active members just to share a scripture about the Restoration.
Instead of trying to just knock on doors this transfer we are really
going to try and get some references from members. We have been
talking a lot about how we need to better our relationship with the
members so we can get references. So that has been our goal for this
week.
Today we played volleyball and basketball with the other Elders from
the zone. And man it was so hot. In the US I dont even remember
sweating that much even when we played basketball outside. But here
after playing for like 5 minutes I am just drenched in sweat. After
that we all went to Pizza Hut and ate pizza. A typical Pday in
Honduras.
Anyways that is my week! Talk to you again next week.
Besitos,
Elder Gessell
