Mother's Day Call

Honestly I can't remember anything this week. I think just because it was awesome to talk to my family yesterday. My family is awesome.

This week we were able to find a cool guy that seems willing to hear us out. His name is Jahir and he is 24 years old. The thing is that last week we had contacted his "wife" Gabriela(their not married but they are living together but here theyre called husband and wife anyways) and she we sat on her porch and we talked to her a bit and left a pamphlet. So at the beginning of the week and we got there and another lady was standing in the door of her house. It looked like the lady was talking her to someone and we asked if Gabriela was home. The lady looked at us then looked at someone that was inside the house that we couldn't see then she said "oh she is asleep." We walked away a little frustrated. But later just a few days ago we decided to go back and we got there and her husband Jahir came out. He told us also that she was asleep. I was like "noooooo" but then all the sudden he said.... "if you want you can come in and talk with me." So we were able to talk to him and he is pretty awesome. He used to play basketball with the Elders in his home town and has a small relationship with the church. He is a former Jehova's Witness but he explained to us that he would be very interested to hear our message. We are going back this week.

This week I have been studying Exodus. I actually really enjoy it. I have always been a little hesitant to study the Old Testament just because it is rough stuff. But I read most of Genesis and now I am reading Exodus. I can say that just reading this little bit I have been able to understand much more about the scriptures in general. Specifically about the tribes of Israel and Jewish traditions that are explained in the New Testament. I love the story about Moses. I think everyone does. Moses is one of the best examples of making weak things strong. Not just because he wasn't a good speaker but he considered himself just a weak man in general. But he was given strength. I like how he explains to Jehovah in the burning bush that he is weak. He explained all his doubts. But Jehovah tells him that it wont be just Moses by himself. But that He was going to give him power. Now Moses is considered one of the most important figures in scripture after Jesus Christ. It just amazes me what God can do with us.

I am loving it here more and more everyday. Honduras used to be so strange. But now it is so familiar.

Love,
Elder Gessell
