Honduras sleepovers

This week has been a long week. Long but good.
This week was transfers week so it is always a little bit more busy. Elder Bohorquez and I are staying here in Planes but in our zone there were quite a bit of changes. So it was our job to stay with some of the Elders that were waiting on their new companion. So we slept in a couple different houses this week haha. Like little mini Honduranian sleep overs.

We have been visiting the Villanueva family this week since Maitte´s baptism is coming up. We talked a while about her baptism and she explained to us that she wanted to be baptized with her mom. So Elder Bohorquez and I talked about it for a little while and we decided to try and get them married so the mom, Dunia, can be baptized with her two daughters. The only problem is that her husband Johnny hasn´t shown much interest in getting married. But we are going to continue being direct with him.

On Friday I got to go to a meeting with President and some other missionaries in the mission office. Recently the mission changed offices and the new office is super cool! They have cool touchscreen computers and phones. They even have fingerprint readers to open up the doors. It felt like I was in some high security government building haha.

On Thursday we had a Family Home Evening with the Villanueva family in a member family´s house. The goal was to help our investigators get to know some of the members of the ward. It worked out pretty well. Elder Bohorquez and I gave a message about how our trials our good for us. We explained a bit about Nephi and the plates of brass.  When I was reading that story again while preparing the message I learned a lot. I wondered if Nephi got a little discouraged. I mean he had the right intentions, he had the faith, in fact, he knew that God had prepared a way. I wonder if he ever wondered why he couldn't do it in the first try. I figured that is where the test comes in. I guess sometimes even when we do have enough faith and we do have good intentions, God has some other good intentions for us.

Thanks again everyone for all the love and support. Hope you all have a great week!  Love, Elder Gessell
