Hey everyone!
It has been quite an interesting week here in Honduras.
The week started out pretty normal on Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Tuesday we went to Santa Rita to have our district meeting. I am not sure if I like the mini trips to Santa Rita or not. I enjoy meeting with the other missionaries and having our district meeting. But the bus ride is pretty rough haha. It takes about an hour and a half to get from Morazan to Santa Rita and the buses don´t always have air conditioning. Also sometimes we have to stand up the whole time because it is so full.
We have been playing a lot of pick up games of soccer lately in front of the church with some of the kids that we find in the street. So what we have been doing is teaching a small lesson to the young men that show up and then playing a couple games of soccer. It seems to be working out well. A few of the young men even showed up at church 2 Sundays ago. The branch doesn´t have any young men so we are hoping to continue to have those mini games of soccer.
Wednesday was also a pretty normal day. We spent a lot of the day contacting. Contacting has been a little rough here in Morazan. Somedays we will only be able to teach one lesson by contacting. But I definately should be grateful for that one lesson because I know that in some parts of the world getting into one house would be a miracle.
Thursday was when things started to get a little interesting. The day started out normal and we did our weekly planning and all and we left for our visits. At about
4:30 we got a text from our zone leaders saying that we need to buy food and be in the house at 5. So we went to the super market and bought enough food for 4 or 5 days.
So due to some problemitas in the election process in Honduras there are some protests going on in the big cities. Fortunately in the little town of Morazan there hasn´t been huge protests like there are in San Pedro Sula. But it has been a little interesting. We have been told that we can´t leave the house until the Area Presidency says so. Also there werent any church meetings yesterday in all of Honduras. The is a curfew for all of Honduras from
6pm to 6am. I have been reading a lot of the Book of Mormon in our freetime haha.
Thanks again for all the support and prayers!
Love you all!
Elder Gessell
