Ovejos in Morazan

Another week in Morazan. I actually can barely remember anything that happened this week.
Really the big thing that happened this week was that a member family invited us to a Family Home Evening/Birthday for their son this week. This family has like a small little farm. They have fish, chickens, pigs, turkeys, bees, and sheep. For the family home evening they decided they were going to kill a sheep. Elder Lima and I totally wanted to see them kill the sheep so we showed up a little early. We got there and we watched as a guy that reminded me a lot of a lamanite killed, skinned, and cut the sheep. And later that night the sheep was delicious hahaha.
As for work in Morazan goes, we are contacting a lot of people. Once again we are knocking doors for about 2 hours a day. It is sometimes exhausting. Sometimes it is really hard to stay focused after about an hour without luck. But there is always that happiness when a family finally invites you inside.
In my Book of Mormon reading this week I read through Ammon and his missionary work with the Lamanites. It reminded me of a time when Brandt was on his mission and he sent me letter. He sent me a letter to study those chapters and to look for things that helped Ammon become a great missionary. I remember when I did that about 3 years ago I focused on how Ammon was a good example and how he asked questions and explained everything clearly to King Lamoni. But as I was reading again this week I began to notice something different. I focused a lot on verses 9-18 in Alma 17 which talk a lot about how the sons of Mosiah prepared for their missions. I began to notice that they had such great success because they had prepared with study, prayer, and fasting for many days. They trusted in God. They blessed each other. They did all this so that they could have all the help from God that they could get. And they got it. It was a good reminder of how important our preparation is. Not only here in the mission field but in everything. Before we do anything we need to try and gather up as much of God´s support and power that we can. Then if we try our best like Ammon did, miracles will happen.
Thanks again for all the emails and all the support everyone!
Love,
Elder Gessell
