Full Stomachs and Full hearts

Hola everyone!

Another week has gone by super fast here in Morazan. Not to much to report other than lots of knocking doors and visiting inactive members.
On Monday last week my stomach nearly exploded. For lunch on Monday we ate a huge pizza just Elder Lima and I. We ate like 6 pieces each and this was at like 3:30. I honestly dont really know what we were thinking because we had a dinner appointment at 6:30. For the dinner appointment the family had prepared like 4 Baleadas for each of us. It took me about 45 minutes to eat all that and by the time we finished I was dying. We slowly walked home with bloated stomachs haha. When we got home I had to wait like 30 minutes for my stomach to go down before I could do anything haha. I dont think I have ever been that full in my life.

On Thursday it was Elder Lima´s birthday. We bought a cake and coke and had a mini birthday party. We also burned a mini snowman just for fun haha.

Also this week something kinda of crazy happened. Last week in my letter I talked a little about the letter Brandt sent me while he was on his mission that challenged me to read Ammons story and study some things about it. Well this week I just was looking through an old journal that I had filled up. The journal has a little pocket in the back to put papers and notes and stuff. I looked in the pocket and there was that same letter that Brandt had sent me like 4 years ago. I guess sometime a long time ago I had put the letter in there. It was just a cool coincidental thing. I reread the letter and it made me grateful that I had kept it for so long and that Brandt had written it in the first place.

Anyways, this past week we have been working hard on focusing on the inactive members who have nonmembers in their home. We have been really trying to find ways to get people to come back to church. Lots of people want to go to church but once Sunday comes around there is always a reason not to come. As a companionship we talked about how the people need to find a reason why they must go to church. Something that the branch president said caught my interest. He said during our branch counsel that we need to pray so that we can know how to help these people come to church. He didnt say that we need to pray so that they come to church but that we need to pray so we can recieve ideas on how we can help them come to church. It reminded me that God almost always works through other people. Most times angels arent going to come down and tell people to go to church. No, we need to show our initiative like Nephi when his bow broke. Nephi didnt pray for meat to fall from heaven but he first made his bow and asked where he should go to find meat. We need to do our part too. So hopefully with that mindset we can have some success with the inactive members.

Thanks again for everything!

Love,
Elder Gessell
