Water the Necessity of Human Life
Hello everyone from all parts of the US and the world.
I was just thinking about how cool missionary emails can be. We recently made a group email with a few of my friends on missions. Elder Bertagnini in New York and Elder Strate in Japan. It was cool to think that that group email is in 3 very different parts of the world. Pretty cool.
I honestly don't remember that much from this week. But I do remember that we almost had no running water this week. The running water system in Honduras is not nearly as reliable as it is in the States. Where we live we almost never have running water all day everyday. So most people have this huge cement "pila" outside their house that they fill up when the water comes for the day. So that way if the water doesn't come again during the day they still have water stored in the pila. But the pila usually only holds enough for like 2 or 3 days. Well this week the water didnt come for like 5 days straight other than for like 20 minutes one night. So we had a few days where we bought purified water just to shower with it. And we were only flushing the toilet about once a day to save water. It really showed me how much we rely on water not only to drink but for just about everything else too.
On the spiritual side of the water epidemic. It has made me think about how Jesus is the fountain of eternal life. But not only do we need him to receive eternal life but we need Him for just about everything else along the way. There is no trial or challenge that we will go through where Jesus Christ and His Atonement will not be there helping us.
Also on the spiritual side this week I have gained a love for the scripture John 3:16. I imagine that most of you have heard the scripture many times. It is just so perfect to teach the basic principles of the Gospel. That we have a Heavenly Father that loves us soooo much to send us His Son to suffer and die. And that Son loves us so much that He followed through with His mission so we can have everlasting life. That scripture sums it up perfectly.
Anyways! I love you all! Have a great week!
Elder Gessell
