Los Bautismos

Long week this week but it was full of success.

First of all, we had two baptisms! Orintons two kids, Fani and William were baptized this Saturday. It was great. We really owe a lot of it to Orinton. He is such a great dad. When we left our pamphlets behind he would read them and explain them to his kids. He brought them in 2 trips on his motorcyle to church every sunday and he was just awesome. He is so different than a lot of the parents that I have met here. In stead of being harsh and forceful he is kind and shows an example. And his kids follow that example. So Saturday they showed up early before the baptism and helped us get things ready. Elder Gardner baptized William and I baptized Fani. That was my first time ever doing a baptism so I was a little nervous, but it turned out great. On Sunday they showed up to the church to be confirmed (even if William may have had pinkeye). It all turned out well and Orinton and his kids were all very happy.

Now we have a good amount of baptisms planned for this month. We just have to get people married. Which is a headache but we can do it. Also our long time investigator Jeison finally accepted a baptismal date for the end of September. We explained to him how important baptism is. We explained to him that in baptism we are not promising to be perfect. We are promising to try. We arent even promising to try our best. We are promising to try and when we mess up that we will remember the sacrifice that Jesus made for us. Because he knew we wouldnt be perfect. And he knew that sometimes we wont do our best. Jeison was comforted by that and he accepted to be baptized.

Also I went to San Pedro Sula on Friday. I had to take out my residency. So I am basically Catracho now. Catracho is just slang for someone from Honduras. But It was fun to go to San Pedro. I traveled 4 hours each way in the same day but I did get to see Elder Reyes because is in charge of immigration. The secretaries have it way nice. They have a professional looking office on the 4th floor of a business building and they eat lunch in the mall everyday which is next door. It was nice be in a mall again. I almost felt like I was in the US.

Those are really the big things. We are trying to kill a squirrell in our house, "Despacito" is always playing everywhere, and we drink a lot of banana soda. So everything is normal!

Love

Elder Gessell
