Cambio 5
Well! Last week of this transfer and it has been great!
Elder Martinez is pretty much dead now. He goes home in 73 hours. Crazy! He really isnt too baggy(trunky). We are still working hard and he is very excited. A week full him yelling "¡Ya me voy!"
I honestly hardly can remember anything that happened this week. I do remember that we had a Talent Show in the ward on Thursday. It was all planned by our awesome Ward mission leader Pedro. The objective was to get a lot of investigators to come and see that Mormons can have fun. A lot less investigators showed up than we expected but it was still a success. We were able to meet a few investigators who had a great time. The funny thing is, is that the ward party didnt feel that different from the ward parties at home. There were children running around the whole time, teenagers grouped up together, and a lot of happy families. Sounds like a Mormon Ward Party to me.
Also this week we had an intense service project. One of our investigators fiance is building his house to be bigger for his fiance and new baby. The construction here is purely cinder blocks. The problem with the cinder blocks is that the truck with the cinder blocks can only go so far up the mountain until the road ends. So our zone which consists of about 10 elders spent two mornings hauling 1000 cinder blocks up to his house. We would put two cinder blocks on our backs and walk up the hill and come back for more. The next morning was a rough morning especially for Elder Martinez.
This week we also had an interesting lesson with a new investigator. I was on divisions with Elder Baede in my area. We met with Paula who is the fiance of Orinton who is the inactive member that is coming back to church that I talked about last week. She went to church 2 Sundays ago and we asked if we could visit with her this week. So Elder Baede and I visited with her on Friday. She explained how much she loved church and that she had never felt such peace and comfort in a church before. We were so happy to hear this and we began to explain the Spirit and the blessings of the Gospel to her. As we were talking she started crying. She began to explain to us that her mother would not let her continue to go to church. She said that she wants to go so bad but that she wont be able to. We shared a few scriptures with her about opposition and she began to feel a little better. We promised her that if she continues to have this righteous desire to go to church that God will provide a way for her. We left with a prayer and we were so happy. I was so glad that she had felt the spirit in the church and that it had testified to her.
Yesterday we got news about the transfers. Elder Martinez is going home haha and I have new companion. This time it really a new companion haha. My new companion is Elder Gardner from Arizona! I was way surprized to hear that I am going to have a gringo companion. We are going to be one of the 2 gringo companionships in the whole mission! We´ll see how it goes!
Love
