Santitos

Hello from Honduras!

This week was awesome. It has gone by so fast!

At the start of this week we went on divisions with the Zone Leaders. Which means that Martinez and I both went to their area. I went with Elder Maldonado (Elder Badly Donated in Englsh jeje). The area of the Zone Leaders is huge! You can walk in any direction for 45 minutes and still be in there area. So I walked quite a bit with Elder Maldonado as we practiced his English which was actually really good!

Throughout the week we went and explored a few new parts of our area that we have never been to. I am always surprised at how we can find so many more houses just by walking up one hill. So we contacted a lot of houses that havent been contacted for a good amount of time so we had some success.

This week I want to talk a little about the Santitos family. The Santitos are really the Garcia family but everyone calls them Santitos because they are kind of short but really are Latter-Day Saints. They are so awesome! I think they are slowly becoming my Honduras family haha! The Santitos family is a humble family that works just by selling small things to everyone in the neighborhood. They sell things like small frozen treats called topos (and give them free to missionaries), Sister Santitos sews clothing and Brother Santitos works fixing anything haha. But they are so awesome because they just love the missionaries and invite us to eat all the time. We eat there every Thursday but they invite us way more times in a week. The other awesome thing is that every neighbor (on each side of the house and in front) are converts. They have worked hard with the missionaries and have been an example and have helped in the conversion of all of their neighbors. They are so awesome and I am so grateful to be serving in the ward with them.

This week I was thinking a lot about the Will of God and our personal will. I have learned how we not only should do the Will of God but that we should work to change our will to be aligned with His. Meaning that it isnt enough to do something just because God commands it but that we should do it because we want to do it. It is something that is sometimes difficult because in reality there arent very many people who want to get up on a Saturday morning to clean the bathroom stalls in the church haha. Maybe it isnt exactly like that but you get the point. Anyways, there is a solution. The pure love of Christ. If we have charity our Will is Gods Will. If we have charity we genuinely want people to come to Christ and not just because God commands it. Mormon asks us to pray with all our heart for the gift of charity.

Anyways, I hope that we can all strive to work to gain this pure love. I love you all and hope you have a great week!

Love

Elder Gesselll (jeje)
