Baptism and gratitude
Hey everyone!
Great week this week!
The biggest thing this week was Yahir´s baptism! On Friday night we had his interview and everything. On Saturday we spent a good part of the day inviting people to his baptism and getting other things ready for the baptism. Yahir´s cousin ended up doing the baptism on Saturday and the confirmation on Sunday too. It was a great experience for Yahir and for his mom. His mom was in tears for most of it haha. There was a large amount of members there to support him too.
These last few days we have been eating so much. The ward has really been inviting us over for dinners and sometimes lunches. It is a blessing and a curse sometimes. Two times this week we had 2 dinners and I was about to throw up by the end of the second. I am continually amazed at how much food latinos can eat and how fast they can eat it. In one meal this week we ate with a sister in the ward and she gave us a ton of food. A mound of rice and beans, a stack of tortillas, guineos, and eggs. I was amazed to see that my companion and the sister had finished it all in about 5 minutes while I was still forcing down half a plate of rice haha. But I really am grateful for all the help that we get from the ward with our meals haha.
It has been raining a lot the past few weeks. I honestly don't know what I would rather have. A ton of heat or a ton of humid rain. It quite a bit cooler while it rains but it just hard to work in the rain. Nobody wants to let in a couple of dripping wet missionaries haha. Also the streets flood really fast so it is a kind of dangerous to walk around. But the rain is really cool because it comes just as fast as it goes. Sometimes you can hear the rain
approaching before it actually gets to you. And then 10 minutes later you will hear it move to another area.

Anyways, thats mostly all that I can remember this week. We have been working hard on finding new people everyday and visiting with all of our investigators. Thanks again everyone!
Love
Elder Gessell
