Fundraiser Success

Hey everyone!

Pretty normal week this week!

On Tuesday we had the BBQ fundraiser for our investigator Carlos! We sold about 30 plates of bbq pork to the missionaries in our zone and the neighboring zone. It went just as we planned it and we were able to begin the process of "taking out their papers." I dont really know what that means or even what the process is to get married here, haha. I sort of just ride along with Carlos and my companion as we go to these government building. And those government buildings are the craziest places on the planet. Try to imagine the DMV, but worse. I know. I didn't think it was possible either, haha. But anyways, it seems like we will be able to have the marriage in the beginning of May and then have the baptism the next day. Carlos is getting pretty excited.

Other than that not much else happened. We are trying to find new people to teach because Carlos is mostly it right now. Other than him we mostly work with inactive members which is difficult sometimes.

This week I was just thinking about the whole concept of a mission, haha. Sometimes I am just walking in the street and I think to myself, "Wait a second... I am in Honduras!" Like Honduras feels normal when it isn't at all, haha. It's hard to explain the feeling but it makes me laugh, haha.

The other thing I was thinking about this week is how we take all of our intelligence with us after this life. And that has made me want to expand my knowledge. I want to learn piano and a bunch of languages now and want to learn more math even though I may never use it, haha. I just had this urge to be a more intelligent person, haha. So I have been reading a lot in what little free time we have. I finished Jesus the Christ by James Talmage and am almost done with the Great Apostasy by the same author. Both of those have helped me expand my knowledge of the church and of the scriptures.

That is basically my thoughts for this week.

This week we seem to have a good week planned. I´ll let you all know how it goes next Monday!

Love you all!
Elder Gessell
