Rainy Days
Hey Everyone!
Pretty good week this week! Lots of rain haha! Thankfully Elder Martinez and I are feeling much better since the incident with the bees.
The hardest thing about this week was that many of our investigators and the members are not home for the appointments we set up! On Friday we had planned a filled day of visits. We ended up spending the day going to each house and nobody was ever home! So we walked in the rain for the day trying to contact but we were soaking wet so nobody wanted to let us in haha. By the end of the day we were soaked, tired, and hungry so we decided to stop by the church for a quick rest. Surprisingly we found the Ward Secretary and his wife at the church setting up a relief society activity. So we helped them set up and the Ward Secretary, Hermano Ordones, asked us if we had had dinner. We told him that our dinner appointment wasn´t home. So he took us in his dry car and bought us a large pizza and a 2 liter of coke. He then dropped us off at our house to eat the pizza. We ate the entire pizza and drank the coke in about 10 minutes and we were so grateful. Despite the rough day in the rain the Lord blessed us with that tender mercy.
Sunday was a great day! One of our progressing families the Venegas families came to church and they loved it. The family consists of a mother and a father and their son and his long term girlfriend. The girlfriend is a member but is inactive. The son, Carlos wants to be baptized but has to be married first but they dont have the money. But this week are going to sell hamburgers to try and raise the money. It is super exciting! The mother and the father of Carlos both agreed to be baptized also. Exciting.
Lots of people have been asking how my Spanish is going. It is going pretty great! The most difficult part for me is usually understanding others. The "S" is rarely pronounced and people slur their words. On top of that is really loud due to dogs barking and people selling things on the street. But during lessons when I dont exactly understand what my companion is saying I just testify on the topic. It has helped me learn how just a simple testimony can bring the spirit into any situation. So ya, I have become pretty good at testifying.
Anyways, thanks for the prayers and emails everyone. Love you all tons!
