Explosion in the streets

Hey everyone back home!

It has been a great week here at the Guatemala MTC. Thanks for all your emails Im trying really hard to respond to as many as I can!

So last Pday was really a great day. Right after I finished sending last weeks email we went to the distribution center to get scriptures and supplies like that. Me and my companion saw an older gentleman sitting in the lobby so we decided to go talk to him using our broken Spanish. What proceeded afterwards was one of the most spirtual experiences here at the MTC so far. From what I could understand was that man had gotten into car crash while drunk driving. He ended up being sent to prison for 10 years. A few weeks before he was going to be released the missionaires came and gave him the book of Mormon. He told me and my companion that God and Jesus have helped him become new. It was touching hearing his testimony of repentance and the Gospel. By the end of the conversation me and my compainion were both teary eyed. We then offered a pray with him and went on our way. I am certain that is the first of my many spiritual experiences.

Then about midway through the week something crazy happened! Me and my comp were walking to our class just outside of our residency building and we saw a truck tipped over in the street! We watched as the truck proceeded to catch fire and explode! Dont worry nobody was hurt and me and my comp were a safe distance. It was pretty freaking awesome though! First thing that came to my mind was "wait till mom hears about this" haha.

I am constantly surpised by the amazing food that they have here at the MTC. It is just amazing. I always have a full stomach at the end of each meal. I will remember to send pics once I get out into the field because it is awesome.

Anyways, overall this week has been pretty great. I have felt the blessings of being a missionary just flowing. I have made some great friends and have had some amazing experiences. I know that I am doing the Lords work here and I know that I can bless the lives of others and they will bless mine also.

Love you all
Elder Gessell
